Saturday's are all about a bit of fun competition, and very different from our Twilight Sailing.
Most races start at 2pm, almost perfectly timed with our incredible southwest sea breeze.
Most boats use spinnakers and even change sails during the races due to changing weather conditions.
It can be fast paced (weather dependant) and generally, more crew work is required (compared to Wednesday evenings), it gets the adrenalin pumping and most days you come home feeling like you've sailed hard.
KBSC hold a range of different series over the sailing season including 3 sponsored consistency race series, extended (12noon start) and inner bay racing, championship races and some overnight cruises.
Skippers are always on the lookout for keen, fit crew to join their teams and experience isn’t always necessary.
Register your interest on our crew page, leave your details on our crew whiteboard at the Clubhouse or pop down to the Clubhouse on Wednesday nights, Friday nights or Saturdays and ask to speak with our Membership Officer, Rear Commodore Sailing or a Class Captain.
To race on Saturdays you will need to join as a Senior or Crew member (you can try first, maximum 6 races, $15 each), we do offer crew membership which covers all sailing fees for Wednesday and Saturday sailing. This also gives you access to all Clubs facilities, gives you 20% off beverages and allows you to invite guests etc. down for a drink and meal.
Non-Members and Social Members must have registered for a SailPass before heading out to a boat.
A SailPass is a means by which a Non-Member or Social Member can go sailing at our Club – it’s a form of introductory or short term sailing membership (for a day).
You can register for a maximum of 6 Saturday races, after that there is the expectation that you will upgrade to a Senior or Crew Membership to continue sailing regularly.
KBSC Social Members will need an Australian Sailing Username and password to register on a mobile device. (All current KBSC Social Members will have an Australian Sailing Account.)
